Event Details

Public libraries are the cornerstones of American democracy but they have not always been accessible to all.  Please join us for an informative program on the desegregation of the City of Falls Church's library system with an interactive discussion on access to libraries today.

Panelists

Chris Barbuschak is the Head of the Virginia Room at the Fairfax County Public Library and co-author of the recently published book, Desegregation in Northern Virginia Libraries. 

Jennifer Carroll has been Director of the Mary Riley Styles Public Library since 2017 and is a member of the City's Social Equity Action Team. 

Paula Hawkins is a staff member in the library's Circulation Department and researches the history of Mary Riley Styles Public Library. 

Edwin Henderson II is founder of the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation, Vice-Chair of the City's Historical Commission, and a former FCCPS board member. 

James Page, Jr is Senior Pastor at Galloway United Methodist Church in Falls Church. 

Devanshi Patel (moderator) is co-founder and CEO of the Center for Youth & Family Advocacy and an attorney specializing in juvenile and family law as well as workplace diversity and inclusion.
