Our Strategic Plan Goals
The library is undertaking a new strategic planning process and, with the help of a consultant, will be working with staff, the Library Board, City Council, and the greater Falls Church community to develop:
- an updated vision and mission statement
- primary service goals based on community input
- a targeted 3-5 year work plan.
Overview of the Strategic Plan Process
Our Strategic Plan process will begin the summer of 2022 and run through early 2023.
Community Engagement
Our focus during the fall of 2022 will be community engagement, utilizing:
- online & print surveys
- feedback sessions with staff and Library Board members
- facilitated focus groups drawing from a wide range of community members and library users
We will be looking to hear from as many different parts of the community as possible - both library users and non-users - to learn how they view the library and how they envision future programs and services. And we are especially interested in how we can continue to expand library services and programs through a DEI&B lens.
One Day Retreat
After collecting and processing all the feedback from our community engagement, we'll hold a one-day retreat with participants from a cross-section of the community to review the feedback and discuss what values, programs, and services to prioritize going forward.
Mission, Vision & Work Plan
Building from the retreat discussion, we will craft new vision and mission statements for the library and outline a 3-5 year work plan that embodies the updated vision and mission.
