MRSPL Website and Staff Member Receive Virginia Public Library Directors Association Awards

Friday, June 23, 2023 - Mary Riley Styles Public Library received two awards from the Virginia Public Library Directors Association for 2023. Marshall Webster, Adult Services Supervisor, received the Outstanding Staff Member award and the newly updated website won Outstanding Website (both for libraries serving populations under 25,000).

Mr. Webster has been with the library for over 20 years serving the community with a positive attitude and enthusiasm.  Patrons of the library often request Marshall by name and pay him compliments for the service he provides.  He is always looking for the best way to serve patrons and goes the extra mile to answer questions and fill their requests.  Staff and patrons love working with him as he is kind, flexible, and patient.  Library Director, Jenny Carroll stated, “Marshall has provided advice, wisdom, and insight from the start of my career as director. He is truly devoted to the profession, our patrons, and the library.”

Mr. Webster was also instrumental in updating the library website and kept the library team on track to deliver the product. The new site was deployed on September 6, 2022 and features a fully responsive design, improved user experience, a more dynamic and engaging home page and a host of other upgrades.  The entire library supervisory team was involved in the development of the website: Jessica Borchetta (Youth Services Supervisor), Claudia Gutierrez (Sr. Administrative Assistant), Billette Ripy (Technical Services Supervisor), and Marshall Webster (Adult Services Supervisor).
