eMagazines Switching to Magzter

Starting in October 2022, the Library of Virginia (LVA), which provides public libraries like MRSPL with many core electronic resources, will be making some changes.

New Digital Magazine & Language Learning Providers

The biggest changes relate to digital magazines and online language learning resources:

DIGITAL MAGAZINES:  LVA's Overdrive collection of digital magazines, like The New Yorker and Vanity Fair, will move to a new service called Magzter, which will be accessible using an Android or iOS app or your web browser. Learn more...

LANGUAGE LEARNING: Rocket Languages will be replaced with Transparent Language, which offers interactive, self-paced courses for 110+ languages, as well as English language instruction in 30+ languages.  Learn more...

Additional Dropped LVA Services

In addition to Overdrive digital magazines and Rocket Languages, access will end on September 30, 2022 to the following LVA resources:

  • Junior Library Guild Digital (pandemic funding ended)
  • Peterson’s Career Prep (Brainfuse JobNow offers expanded content in this area plus live help)
  • Overdrive eBooks & eAuiobooks through the Library of Virginia

Continued Access to MRSPL Overdrive eBooks & eAudiobooks

Although the Library of Virginia is dropping its Overdrive content (digital magazines, eBooks, eAudiobooks), MRSPL will continue to provide our card holders with access to over 25,000 eBooks and eAudiobooks on mrspl.overdrive.com.
